Speak French in 1 Year (it's possible!)
It was August, a period assumption. I was listening to French songs in the summer my license when I realized how much I wanted to find a chance to finally do what I really wanted in my life.
It was the moment that I decided that as much as I love the Russian language, if you would like to "conquer" quickly, a second foreign language, French were for me a one-way street.
In our quest to stand out from the mass, often looking for alternative options in the context of language learning. A period is the "fashion" of the Russian, another Chinese, or even Turkish or Arabic (!)... What is important for each of us is to do what he loves, but at the same time be realistic toward himself.
If you would like, then, to do what I love, while remaining truthful towards me, I should accept that Russian is my secret desire, but French is an equally beautiful language. The difference is that the Russian require a much longer time to see significant result as well as a systematic effort and perseverance. On the contrary, French are moving in different difficulty levels, despite the endless times and irregular verbs found in words or scientific texts and the rigour in matters of pronunciation.
The die is cast, therefore, and the next September, I started systematically lessons in an organized course of study known language school of Athens.
I stopped Russian - as there was no time for all - and I decided to devote myself to the study of French. I got lucky, as I had a great teacher, very sweet and effective, with a real love for the language and for the job. Not I, but the rich material it has provided me.
Soon, I realized that in spite of the progress notes in the vocabulary and the grammar, I was not able to understand French speakers, when they were talking. One main reason that we learn a language is, however, beyond the study of texts, to understand the speakers during their speech. So, I discovered the Johan and his project, Français Authentique.
Listen to the video's advice (with subtitles if needed) if you wish to progress in the language quickly (although he proposes the gradual study of the languages).
Coming from a technical environment (he worked for years as a mechanic), in 2011, decided to take advantage of the fact that he is a native speaker of this beautiful language and help us to familiarize ourselves with the speech. After a summer (and something) for a systematic monitoring of the work, I can say that my level shot up dramatically.
Of course, this worked in combination with hard and systematic personal study.
